Description

The 1775 Continental Congress and Continental Militia formed to force the English crown to recognize New World colonists as equal British citizens with political representation in England. After a few bold protests were met with the force of British military might, the second Continental Congress formed to reconcile with British authorities. However, a few seemingly minor events transformed the colonists from loyal British citizens to forming a breakaway country of their own. This lecture follows the political path they took to full independence.
