Description
The Hebrew Bible does not yet “believe” in any form of afterlife. Death is final and nothing happens after death. However, in post biblical times, all three monotheistic religions developed ideas about a continuation in one form or another after death. Thus afterlife can be called also “life after death”. Hints for these ideas do appear in the Bible. In our session we will review some common ideas about the afterlife, we will discuss some questions that these beliefs present and see whether there are sufficient answers to these questions. We will in particular discuss: Final judgment and where do the righteous go and where do the evils go, reincarnation, purgatory, resurrection.
