Description

The United States Constitution was created through a series of compromises among the delegates to the Constitutional Convention that met from May to September in 1787. The delegates, representing 12 of the 13 original states (RI did not send delegates), met in Philadelphia to revise the Articles of Confederation, the governing document from 1781 to 1788. For four months the delegates discussed hundreds of compromises which were necessary to bridge the different interests reflected in regional differences. What were they arguing about? These arguments reflect what the unruly republic would become.
