This class looks at the history and artwork of African American artists from 1920 to 1960, covering the Harlem Renaissance through the Civil Rights Movement. Using a PowerPoint presentation and discussion, we will see how artists responded to the events of their time. Issues of racism and resistance will be part of the conversation, along with the cultural impact of these powerful works.
