Description
This course begins with a basic discussion on the place of art in American Indian cultures. We will span several of the major culture areas in North America. From there, we proceed to look at specific images of many artifacts that contain symbols and complex imagery. A study of American Indian ethnography and oral traditions has opened up new understanding regarding the meaning in these symbols and the arts in general.
