Description

Several years in the making, Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey presented an epic vision of human history using dazzling special effects and music to become one of the most influential films of all time. This course will discuss the development of the film and concurrent novel written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke, and its reception over time. The course will use many clips from the film to discuss its effects and include rare interviews with Kubrick and Clarke about its meaning.
