Description
This course introduces the concept of global justice focusing on three issues in international politics today: sovereignty, immigration and citizenship, and “just war.” Suggested readings include scholarly articles and news accounts of today’s wars in Europe and the Middle East, migration policies in the U.S. and Europe, and international humanitarian law and action.
Session II. Sovereignty. Sovereignty is defined as supreme political authority within a defined territory. Central to international diplomacy, sovereignty requires respect for borders and non-interference in another state’s affairs.
