Description
Alexander Hamilton gets credit for swaying the Electoral vote to his arch-rival, Thomas Jefferson in the complicated and contested election of 1800. Why did he do it? He and Jefferson were leaders of what had emerged as opposite political parties, the Federalists and the Republicans. He and Jefferson had opposed each other on virtually every policy emanating from the Washington administration. Jefferson had resigned from the Cabinet in protest. What was Hamilton thinking? I would love to have asked him that question?
