Description
Marsden Hartley (1877-1943) was a pioneer American modernist painter. He created portraits, landscapes, still-life paintings influenced strongly by European expressionism, cubism and fauvism. Towards the end of his life Harley embraced regionalism creating expressive works in his home state of Maine.
