Follow Lyndon B. Johnson, often referred to by his initials “LBJ”, through his journey to the White House to serve as the 36th president of the United States from 1963 to 1969 under President John F. Kennedy—sworn in shortly after Kennedy’s assassination. We will cover the year 1960 and the well-known events that placed him in the Oval Office as President. A Democrat from Texas, Johnson also served as a U.S. representative, U.S. senator and the Senate’s majority leader. He holds the distinction of being one of the few presidents who served in all elected offices at the federal level.
