Description

Pseudoscience is thought to be ‘fake science’ or some weird belief system that supports an extreme non-scientific viewpoint. Included in the litany of topics of pseudoscience is climate denial, astrology, creation theory and today vaccine fear. Currently, the list of topics is expanding at logarithmic rates. Pseudoscience does not follow the rules of scientific enquiry and is fraught with no-factual information. Psychological factors, politics and personality all play into the spread and ‘belief’ of pseudoscience and the rise of misbelief of real science. This course will dive into what makes people so vulnerable to pseudoscience and examines some of the conspiratorial theories of this latest cultural phenomenon.
