Description

Presidents’ wives, daughters, sisters and nieces have filled one of the most visible roles in our government even though there is no Constitutional basis for the position they held. This fascinating group of women have influenced policy, set social and fashion trends, and tended to the more subtle diplomatic and political side of the presidency. Some were vivacious, others tragic, but all are interesting. We will start the series about our First Ladies at the beginning with “Lady Washington” and continue to modern times, considering them all along the way. Join us for some fun and a look at an often overlooked and under-appreciated part of United States history.
