Description
The Roman Empire did not fall in 476 AD. It lived on in the eastern Mediterranean as what historians call Byzantium until 1453. Although based in modern Greece and Turkey, the people of this Greek-speaking Christian empire referred to themselves as Romioi – Romans. This presentation will tour the lands, peoples, society and government of this medieval Roman Empire, as well as the dramatic fall of New Rome – Constantinople.
