Description

Come explore the history and artistic development of the American Tonalism movement of the late 19th century, a period defined by moody landscapes, subtle color harmonies, and poetic atmosphere. We will examine key artists such as George Inness, James McNeill Whistler, and Charles Rollo Peters, analyzing how their works reflected shifts in American identity and aesthetics.  Participants will gain an appreciation for Tonalism’s quiet beauty and lasting influence on American art.
