Vincent Van Gogh lived and painted in the South of France for only a few years, yet he created some of his most important work there, among them his sunflower paintings, which were originally created as decorations for his studio. We trace the history of the sunflower paintings, including one that was destroyed by a World War II bomb and then rediscovered in a long uncovered photograph.
