Description
In this talk, we’ll take a slide-illustrated virtual tour of the National Museum of American Art, focusing on eight paintings that embody major developments in American art history from colonial times to the present. We’ll look at art works that reveal not only each painter’s particular artistic genius but also her/his interpretation of, and reaction to, contemporary transformational moments in American history – such as the American Revolution, Westward Expansion, the Civil War, the Great Depression, and the Civil Rights movement.
