Description

This slide-illustrated tour of the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore focuses on the rich collection of objects in the galleries dedicated to the art of ancient Greece, Rome, and the Middle Ages. In looking closely at Greek vases and statues, Roman tomb sculptures and portraits, and medieval reliquaries and altarpieces, we’ll explore the artistic, religious, and political beliefs they embody, and the role these ancient and medieval artistic traditions played in laying the foundations for the Italian Renaissance and beyond.
