Description
Washington Irving was a prolific writer who spun amazing tales for colonial readers. Normally we associate him with creepy haunts, flaming pumpkins, and headless horsemen. But it’s not spooky stories we’re talking about, it’s the yuletide season! Washington Irving wrote quite a lot about Christmas celebrations and family gathered around the decorated tree! Though he didn’t create the holiday, certainly, his writings actually shaped how Christmas traditions were shaped in America. We’ll explore those traditions and how history shapes our celebrations even today.
