Most genealogists have used death records of one kind or another, but sometimes what we see on them is baffling. Vague causes of death, like bad blood or dropsy, were labels for what we now know are very serious medical conditions. We’ll take a look at the various kinds of death records available to genealogists and then explore some of the illnesses our ancestors suffered and how the “cures” for those diseases may have made a bad situation worse!
