Description
Many consider the position of Vice President of the United States as a meaningless position, where one just waits around for a tragedy to occur. This class will look at three men who were put in that position and then ascended to the highest office in the land – John Tyler, Andrew Johnson and Gerald R. Ford. Each of these Presidents held the office only for the remainder of their predecessor’s term. None of them were able to be elected in their own right. We will look at the impact their caretaker status had on the nation and on them personally
