Description

This two-session class will allow participants to hear the unique perspectives of Ukrainian Americans in order to help participants understand and contextualize the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Drawing on the instructors’ family histories and personal insights, the first class will introduce you to Ukraine as a country and a culture, and discuss its history with Russia. The second session will focus on the current invasion of Ukraine, beginning with the 2008 invasion of Georgia and the Revolution of Dignity in 2014. Our presenters each bring a different area of expertise to the discussion, and afterwards, will open the conversation to questions and suggest various ways to support Ukraine. During the weeks leading up to the class, our instructors will share stories about Ukraine and interact with Oasis participants on the national Oasis blog.
