In Visualizing American Childhood, this three-session class will look at how pictures of and for children and literature for and about them contributed to communicating changing ideas about children’s character and their roles in America from Colonial times to the early twentieth century. “Huck’s Raft,” a best-selling book by Steven Mintz about the history of American childhood and youth, will be a point of discussion.
