Learn & practice easy movements to improve balance and reduce risk of falling. Emphasis is on posture, balance, muscle relaxation & breathing. Staying physically active is critical to slowing the aging process and staying healthy. However, while cardio training offers incredible benefits, it is not the only form of exercise you need to engage in as you get older. The loss of muscle tissue due to aging can affect older adults’ ability to perform many routine activities and lead an independent lifestyle. Fortunately, regular strength training — also called resistance training and weightlifting — can help prevent or reverse muscle loss. When strength training, you use your own body weight or various tools, such as home made weights and resistance bands, for resistance to build muscle, strength, and endurance.  The class includes Stretching and inquiry at the end. Strength training can help:
    • Maintain muscle tissue and strength
    • Contribute to better balance and coordination, and reduce the risk of falls
    • Preserve bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis
    • Improve sleep and reduce depression
    • Help with fat loss

The Constitution is a much beloved document, a charter that many Americans regard with pride, reverence, and awe. Yet, over the past half-century, several historians have argued that many of its innocuous-sounding articles offered a dramatic giveaway to slaveholders. This program will help you determine where the truth lies. We’ll follow the framers of the federal Constitution into their closed-door convention in Philadelphia in 1787 to see how northern delegates and southern delegates wrangled over whether or not slavery could continue to thrive in a nation founded on the principles of liberty and equality.

In the long hot summer of 1787, fifty-five men convened in Philadelphia to write a plan for governing the United States of America. This endeavor marked a second attempt, initially conceived as an improvement upon the original plan. However, faced with insurmountable challenges, the participants grappled with thorny issues, engaging in heated debates and eventual compromises to reach a consensus on the final document. As the summer drew to a close, the rush to return home left numerous details unresolved, with trust placed in the belief that these issues would find resolution in due course. Yet, this was not the end of conflict and compromises, as the document required ratification by nine of the thirteen states through specially convened conventions. These ratification debates stirred further disputes and calls for change.

Enroll in a session led by Mark Etling, Ph.D., specializing in Historical Theology from Saint Louis University. In the early days of the Christian era, there was no Bible, no uniform belief system, no centralized authority structure, and no consistent liturgy. Additionally, there existed a multitude of often conflicting answers to crucial theological inquiries: Is God one? Is God the creator? Was Jesus God? Was Jesus a man? Is Jesus both God and a man? Is the Holy Spirit God? What does it mean to be saved? In this session, we will explore some of the many "flavors" of Christianity during its formative years.
